Q. Will games be played on a full size pitch?
A. You bet! All Derby League Soccer Outdoor matches will be played on a full size pitch which will accommodate 11 vs. 11 play. Indoor soccer varies depending on the size of field, but is generally either 8 v 8 or 7 v 7.
Q. Will there be referees?
A. Yes, all Derby League soccer games will be officiated OSA Sanctioned Referees. For Outdoor programs the Referee will be assisted by 2 Linesmen.
Q. Will slide tackling be allowed?
A. Yes, slide tackling is permitted for Outdoor sessions, so long as the tackle is deemed safe and fair in accordance with the laws of the game. All other slide tackles will result in discipline at the referee’s discretion. Don’t be dirty. Slide tackling is not permitted for Indoor sessions due to safety issues.
Q. When do games start?
A. The Outdoors season will begin May and run through Sept – the longest season of any adult men’s soccer league in the area. Fall and Winter will run from October to March/April.
Q. What’s the age requirement?
A. The general age of acceptance is 18, although players as young as 16 may play with signed permission from their Parent or Guardian.
